A Bigger Tide: Why Ocean Shop Is Looking Beyond the Shore

A Bigger Tide: Why Ocean Shop Is Looking Beyond the Shore

Sometimes the next chapter begins with a simple conversation.

The future of Ocean Shop has never just been about selling products. But creating an impact.

For many of us, the ocean begins as a place.

A favourite beach.

A surf break.

Summer holidays.

Morning swims before work.

The place we return to when life feels loud.

But for all the joy the ocean gives us, it's easy to forget that beneath the surface lies one of the most important ecosystems on Earth.

One that quietly regulates our climate, supports extraordinary biodiversity, protects coastlines and sustains communities around the world.

The more we learn about the ocean, the harder it becomes to simply admire it.

Eventually, appreciation turns into responsibility.

And that's exactly where Ocean Shop is heading.

More Than a Coastal Lifestyle

Ocean Shop was created to celebrate a life inspired by the sea. Built with intention to create a life around the ocean.

A collection of thoughtfully chosen products for people who feel most at home near the water. Brands that protect the ocean, and share the same values.

But today, that vision is evolving.

Because if a business is inspired by the ocean, shouldn't it also find ways to give something back?

It's a question that's becoming increasingly important—not just for Ocean Shop, but for every brand whose identity is shaped by nature.

Supporting the places that inspire us shouldn't be an afterthought.

It should be part of the story from the very beginning.

A Shared Vision

Over the coming months, Ocean will begin working alongside organisations dedicated to protecting and restoring our oceans.

One of those organisations is Counting Coral, whose work focuses on coral reef restoration, marine education and community-led conservation.

Their approach reflects something Ocean deeply believes in:

Real change happens when science, local communities and everyday people come together around a shared purpose.

Protecting the ocean isn't the responsibility of a handful of researchers.

It's something all of us can contribute to.

Why Coral Reefs Matter

Coral reefs cover less than one percent of the ocean floor.

Yet they support approximately a quarter of all known marine species.

They protect coastlines from storms.

Provide nurseries for fish.

Support local economies.

Feed communities.

And create some of the most biodiverse habitats on the planet.

Despite their importance, coral reefs are under increasing pressure from warming oceans, pollution, habitat degradation and other human impacts.

Around the world, scientists, conservation organisations and coastal communities are working together to restore damaged reefs.

Their work takes patience.

Research.

Collaboration.

Long-term commitment.

And continued public support.

What This Means for Ocean Shop

This partnership isn't about adding another logo to a website.

It's about building a business that brings people together, that educates and contributes to something meaningful.

As this relationship develops, we hope to create opportunities for the community to become a big part of the journey.

That may include:

  • Supporting coral restoration projects through future collections.
  • Educational campaigns exploring the importance of marine ecosystems.
  • Community fundraising initiatives.
  • Volunteer opportunities and conservation experiences.
  • Stories from the people working on the front line of ocean restoration.

The goal isn't simply to raise money.

It's to create connection.

Because people protect what they understand.

And they care for what they feel connected to.

If you're interested in getting involved, we want to learn from you, our community.

Take our short 2-minute survey to let us know how you'd like to get involved.

A Community Built Around the Ocean

Ocean has always been more than products on a shelf.

It's a community of surfers, swimmers, sailors, beach walkers, travellers and people who simply feel calmer beside the sea.

That shared connection creates an opportunity.

Not just to celebrate the ocean.

But to become part of its future.

Every conversation, every shared story and every thoughtful purchase has the potential to support something much larger than itself.

Small actions rarely stay small when enough people move in the same direction.

We'll be donating 10% of all online sales to Counting Coral, so every purchase has the chance to make a difference and 100% of your contribution directly supports their restoration work.
